The battle of Bougafer constitutes a crucial stage in the history of the struggle against the French colonial forces. The Moroccan fighters, from the Ait Atta tribes, put up a strong resistance that was highly organized and lasted more than 40 days against 83,000 French soldiers. This battle fought in 1933 was a symbol of the national struggle for independence and the achievement of territorial unity. In this regard, paying tribute to the pride of all Tinghiri at the end of this historic epic, we could not but symbolize the bravery of the citizens by naming our establishment after this glorious confrontation « Bougafer ».
